New South Wales couple choose Paal Kit Homes after a long search for the best supplier.
Ron Cook and his wife Jill looked at every kit home supplier in Australia before deciding to build with Paal Kit Homes on their rural land at Coolongolook near Forster in New South Wales.
“Paal turned out to be the best. There’s no doubt that they are the leaders in their field,” he said.
Coolongolook is a weekend retreat for the couple, after a lifetime of working in the travel industry and seeing all parts of the world.
“The house is for the grand kids as well. I grew up in the bush and I wanted to make sure they had somewhere to come to,” Ron said.
He and Jill chose Paal’s five bedroom Camden, redesigning it with an extra verandah, a larger family room, ensuite bathrooms in four of the bedrooms, a guest toilet and an additional shower. “When you come in from the bush, you’re either full of dust or full of mud,” he explained.
They needed plenty of room for when their children and grandchildren come to stay. The house recently hosted a family reunion for 50 people.
“Our kids and their children sleep down one end and we’re at the other. It’s very peaceful for us,” he said.
Local tradesmen constructed the house. “The builder hadn’t done a steel frame before, but he soon got the hang of it. The plans were very good and not a problem for him at all. Paal did a good job.”
The completed home has a Coach House look with a wheat-finished brick exterior and green Rivergum steel roof. Floors are Australiana-grade spotted gum with different coloured planks that vary from very light to dark.
“They look fantastic,” Ron said. “I’m very proud of the finished house.”
It’s beautifully positioned above and back from the Coolongolook River on the Wiramy Estate, with rough country behind. “The combination of house, land and aspect really makes the situation. People love it,” he said.
